Turmeric and PCOS

I’m always saddened when I hear of a woman’s struggle with PCOS. Their story usually consists of visiting numerous doctors who have no idea what’s going on with their bodies. All they hear year after year since 12-13 years old is, “You’re fat lose weight!” They slowly stop visiting doctors and suffer in silence. The truth is at least ten percent of women struggle with PCOS. This should be on every doctor’s radar screen when trying to help a women struggling with her weight, irregular periods, skin issues, hair lose, facial hair, hormones and more. PCOS can cause countless issues, but one of the hardest is weight gain.
Overweight people are constantly shamed by society and by the doctors they are supposed to trust. Yet, for women suffering with PCOS weight loss can be nearly impossible because it disrupts the regulation of insulin. One way doctors try and help is by prescribing Metformin. I’ve heard many women finding relief and weigh loss using it.  But if you’d like something more powerful and without as many side effects guess what’s even better than metformin?  Turmeric! (Please do your own research and talk to your doctor before stopping your medication. If your doctor does not know about Turmeric or refuses to work with you, please look up a functional medical doctor or a Naturopath. )
Turmeric not only helps lower insulin levels but helps completely reverse many issues related to insulin resistance. Turmeric is powerful when it comes to fighting inflammation which may help put PCOS symptoms in remission, since inflammation is the root to almost all PCOS symptoms. This is why Turmeric is great for weight loss and 400x more potent than Metformin!
When you combine turmeric, healthy eating and exercise you have a powerful combination!
